The V60 Dripper is one of the methods that has gained fame in recent years in the preparation of specialty coffees. Its name is due to the fact that the cone forms a 60º angle and it is manufactured by the Japanese company Hario since 2004.
This inclination allows the water to flow towards the centre and to have greater contact with the coffee. In addition, the spiral grooves will help the coffee to be oxygenated while the extraction is taking place.
What to expect from coffee prepared in a Dripper?
If you want a full-bodied coffee, it's best to add water slowly and use a fine grind. On the other hand, if you want a medium or light body in your coffee, it's best to use a medium grind and a constant flow of water.

Everyone has their own preference when it comes to coffee, but here are some tips. First, place the filter inside the drip cone. To do this, you will need to fold the part with the ridges, as if you were folding a sheet of paper. This way, the filter will be better positioned.
Next, we recommend purging the filter with a little hot water. This will remove any paper fiber residue that could alter the taste of the drink. Doing this will also preheat the container that will receive the drink. This water should be discarded, so do not use more than necessary to moisten the filter.
The coffee maker is designed to make coffee with about 450 ml up to 500 ml maximum (if the water is poured in a controlled manner). Use medium or fine grind, if possible.
At Café Cohete we like to use a ratio of 1:15, which means that for every part of coffee, we add 15 parts of water. To calculate this, you will need to divide the amount of water you want to use by 15. (450 / 15 = 30. In this case, you could use 30g of coffee with 450ml of water). If you want a more concentrated drink, you can lower the ratio to 14 or 13, doing the same division.
